Overview

What is Payroll & HR Compliance?

Running payroll in Ireland has never been more complex. Since the introduction of PAYE Modernisation in 2019, employers must report payroll information to Revenue in real time on or before every pay date — and the consequences of errors, late filings or incorrect PRSI classifications can be significant.

Crestlyn’s payroll team manages the entire payroll function for Irish employers, from weekly processing and payslip generation to P30 returns, BIK calculations, and annual P35 filing. We act as your dedicated payroll bureau, handling every pay run with accuracy and care.

Beyond payroll, we help employers stay compliant with Irish employment law — from properly drafted employee contracts and staff handbooks to managing GDPR obligations in the HR context. When employment legislation changes, we make sure you know about it and implement it correctly.

Common Questions

Frequently asked Questions

What is PAYE Modernisation and why does it matter?
PAYE Modernisation, introduced by Revenue in January 2019, requires all Irish employers to report payroll information to Revenue in real time — on or before each pay date. This replaced the old annual P35 system. Employers who fail to report on time face surcharges and interest. As your payroll bureau, we handle every real-time submission for you.
When you take on a new employee, you need their PPS number and must register them with Revenue before their first pay date. We handle the entire process — requesting their Revenue Payroll Notification (RPN), setting them up in the payroll system and ensuring they’re paid correctly from day one.
BIK is a tax on non-cash benefits provided to employees — most commonly company cars, private medical insurance or interest-free loans. These must be valued and included in payroll each period and are subject to PAYE, PRSI and USC. We calculate and report all BIK as part of your monthly payroll service.
Yes. We regularly help employers regularise their position with Revenue following payroll errors or missed filings. We’ll review your historic payroll, quantify any liability and manage a voluntary disclosure with Revenue where appropriate — which typically results in significantly reduced penalties.
